This fracture causes angulation and possible shortening of the metacarpal, leading to impaired hand mechanics and decreased grip strength. Clinically, patients present with localized tenderness, swelling, and limited finger motion. Radiographically, the fracture is identified by disruption of the cortical bone with characteristic dorsal angulation. The condition is significant due to potential complications like malunion and reduced hand function if untreated.
