This dual pathology significantly increases the risk of macrovascular complications such as coronary artery disease and cerebrovascular disease, as well as microvascular complications including diabetic nephropathy, retinopathy, and neuropathy. The presence of both conditions synergistically worsens cardiovascular outcomes and complicates management strategies.
